SWITZERLAND: ROCHE PILL AGAINST FLU
Article Abstract:
Tamiflu, an anti-influenza pill developed by Roche, has been approved by the Swiss pharmaceutical authority IKS. The product that was developed in cooperation with Gilead Sciences of California is said to be effective against all common influenza viruses. Switzerland is the first country to approve Tamiflu. Approval in the US is expected soon. Within 4-5 years the drug could generate a turnover of SFr 400mn to SFr 800mn.

Institut f r praxisorientierte Qualifizierung (IPQ) has been set up in Basle to provide practically oriented education and further training for staff in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The founders of the institute are the Basle Polytechnic, Cilag AG of Schaffhausen, Pro-Transfer AG of Basle, Rohner AG of Pratteln and Siegfried CMS of Zofingen. The institute is financed with tuition fees.
