Conceptions of the corporation and ethical decision making in business
Article Abstract:
The concept of restricted personhood, where the corporation has the authority to make decisions within a moral framework, is regarded as the only means of increasing the importance of social responsibilities of business. This concept bridges the gap between the notion of the corporation as an agent of the shareholders and as an institution capable of making decisions on the basis of moral and social ethics. It proves that moral values and social interests guide the decision-making process in business, and make it socially responsible and acceptable.
