Entrenchment and vision in Canadian forest policy

Article Abstract:

The gap between Canada's visionary forest policies and entrenched policies and practices as well as the potential role of philosophy in bridging this gap are discussed. Entrenched policy represents the involvement by governments and is composed of existing laws, guidelines and regulations. Visionary policy, on the other hand, comprises a series of idealistic documents produced through a stakeholder process. Some examples of visionary policy and their implementations are presented.
