Are corporations morally defensible?
Article Abstract:
Thomas Donaldson provides a contractarian basis for the moral defensibility of corporations in his book, 'Corporations and Morality.' He defines corporations as business institutions where people in a state of individual production cooperate to generate a specific service or product. The terms and application of Donaldson's contract depend greatly on a shared sense of fairness and different competing interests. A more compelling contractarian justification is drawn which is largely conditional.

A new environmental ethic
Article Abstract:
Laura Westra's book 'An Environmental Proposal for Ethics: The Principle of Integrity' proposes integrity as a new principle of environmental ethics. The approach overcomes individualistic philosophical doctrines and argues for prioritizing environmental integrity over freedom of action. Ecosystem integrity addresses the total ethical undesirability of violence in biotic communities. The aspects of dis-integrity or violence relevant to socio-political issues are also discussed.
