Remediation and an ethical imperative: the role of public agency in environmental practice
Article Abstract:
Pitfalls in current environmental laws that allow companies to evade their environmental responsibilities are discussed, with reference to three cases from Hennepin County Minnesota. Relationship between work of public agency and ethical standards applicable beyond limits of law are explored too.

Notion of sustainability as a corporate goal is defended. Three arguments of traditional view, such as, sustainability philosophy diverts profit from shareholders, undermines competition and usurps the role of government, are challenged.
