What is at stake in taking responsibility? Lessons from third-party property insurance
Article Abstract:
The ethical aspects of third-party property (TPP) insurance, as it relates to protected drivers who accidentally damage another's expensive car, are examined, focusing on an argument that a driver need not take out TPP insurance to be responsible. Topics include whether there is a responsibility to compensate a victim, deterrence measures for risky conduct, and standards of justice.
