Baton down the hatches
Article Abstract:
UK independent drainage consultant specialist Gerald Tobias has adapted a European form of drainage, utilising the rodding point system for larger networks. Access to the main and branch drains are by roddable access points which allow direct access to the affected run from above. Debris can be pushed into the main drain. The roddable system is 12% cheaper than manhole drains as it abolishes the need for costly wet trades, such as bricklaying. Installation time is reduced by 50%. Tobias has 18 contracts. The system is not very popular because of the development of fittings.

Bargaining and gender
Article Abstract:
Different strategies of cooperation amongst men and women may account for the differences in accumulated wealth between the sexes. Bargaining theory holds that people who are known to be tough bargainers will usually receive more respect from those they negotiate with. Because society assumes women are more cooperative, they are more likely to be taken advantage of than their male counterparts, who are assumed to drive harder bargains. This manifests itself in everything from wages to social status to spousal relationships.

Why entitlements must be curbed
Article Abstract:
Government entitlement spending increased from $32.3 billion in 1962 to $711.2 billion in 1992. It now accounts for over 50% of federal spending and some experts say it could be as high as 60% by the year 2002. It is imperative that politicians curb excessive entitlement spending.
