Article Abstract:
Management accountants who want to sharpen their financial management skills may consider attending the Financial Management Workshop being offered by the Institute of Management Accountants. Students learn about theory as well as practical examples and cases, and are given handouts in addition to the course workbook. At the beginning of the course, the discussion touches on the financial manager's role. It is then followed by such topics as capital budgeting, cost of money and international finance. Aside from these basics, the workshop also tackles current developments in the field of financial management. For instance, the concept of economic value added is discussed. Practical application
Article Abstract:
The crop protection chemicals application industry has evolved from its modest beginnings in the 1940s. Row crop sprayers were used in the 1940s for applying 2,4-D fertilizers. In the 1950s, trucks and pull-type trailers with single- or twin-centrifugal spinners were used for custom application of dry fertilizers. In the 1960s, weed-and-feed custom application techniques and high flotation equipment achieved dominant positions in the industry. The application industry shifted its focus in the 1980s and 1990s with the development of site-specific technology and electronic controllers.

On the difficulties of speaking about the GDR
Article Abstract:
Reconstruction of the history of GDR absolutely needs scientific truth, justice and democracy if there is to be a departure from the manichaean categorical models which so influence the present thinking.A methodological approach to studying the history of Germany is presented, which attempts to take into consideration the structures of the society, an action-theoretic framework for individuals and society as a whole, and a self-critical awareness.
