Autism and developmental receptive language disorder - a comparative follow-up in early adult life. I: cognitive and language outcomes

Research is presented concerning the assessment and study of 2 groups of young men with developmental receptive language disorders and with autism. The 2 groups have been studied regularly from the age of 7.

Research is presented concerning the study and regular assessment of 2 groups of young men with developmental receptive language disorders and with autism. The young men were first assessed at the age of 7 years.

Adult outcome for children with autism

Article Abstract:

A large group of individuals meeting the criteria for autism in childhood were followed up as adults in this study. The study showed that only a minority of individuals achieved high level of independence, most of them remained dependent on parents and support system.
