Carol J. Eagle, the new president of the American Orthopsychiatric Assn., is well known among her colleagues as an imaginative and capable individual whose leadership skills make her highly qualified to lead the organization. Her educational achievements include a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, an M.A. in psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York, NY, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from New York University. Among many other achievements, Eagle is the author of two books on clinical psychology.

Ira S. Lourie, M.D
Article Abstract:
Ira S. Lourie was appointed president of the American Orthopsychiatric Assn for the year 1998-1999. The Brooklyn, NY-born doctor was educated at George Washington University, completed his internship at San Francisco General Hospital and his psychiatric residency at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. He has pioneered studies on children's mental health and feels particularly honored that his new position would help advance the field.
