Cyber sales

Article Abstract:

UK property auctioneers are beginning to establish a presence on the Internet. Jones Lang Wootton, for example, places catalogues for future auctions online, as well as detailing the results of previous sales. It is possible that auctions will be transmitted widely across the Internet in the future. A service along these lines is already offered by PropertyFind, with bidders registering in advance and then bidding with an individual access code. It is possible that the Internet will replace some existing services, such as telephone bidding.

Online demand comes of age

Article Abstract:

Many people are using the Internet to buy goods as they can be cheaper. Some 93% of the major retail companies plan to develop a web site in the future. It is predicted sales made online will increase to a value of 6.1 billion by 2003, from 406 million pounds sterling in 1998. The rising use of the Internet to purchase goods has led to an increasing demand for warehouses to stock the goods before distribution. The firms dealing in E-commerce mostly require one large warehouse to hold the goods and smaller ones to distribute them to customer.
