The truth about latex condoms
Article Abstract:
Condoms are only effective when used consistently and correctly and their use during intercourse is more than 10,000 times safer than their nonuse. They are 98% effective in preventing pregnancy when used correctly and up to 99.9% effective in reducing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases when combined with spermicide. They substantially reduce the risk of HIV transmission. Condom makers in the US comply with voluntary performance standards for condoms established by the American Society for Testing and Materials and recommended by the FDA.
