Colonial Hong Kong as a cultural-historical place
Article Abstract:
An argument that by the late 1800s Hong Kong Chinese businessmen helped make Hong Kong its own distinct place. The cultural and historical meanings of this place changed over time and realities were more complex, but Hong Kong's role in China's nation building demonstrated their commitment to China and their uniqueness.

Another Asian financial crisis: monetary links between Hong Kong and China 1945-50
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's return to China in 1997 has demonstrated the interdependence between the Hong Kong dollar and the Chinese Renminbi. The circulation of the Hong Kong dollar outside Hong Kong, begun in 1940s, required preventive mechanisms to avoid crisis between Chinese and British interests.
