Consolation and the work of mourning in 'Angeline de Montbrun.' (Laure Conan)
Article Abstract:
The search for consolation is portrayed in the Canadian novel 'Angeline de Montbrun' by Laure Conan. The Catholic conception of spiritual consolation is reflected in the text, but the psychological theory of mourning explains why the heroine's grief work appears to be incomplete. The heroine does not seem to have completely accepted the loss of her father, of love and of beauty.
