Fostering student-student interaction in a whole group setting
Article Abstract:
Communicative talk among students in whole group interaction is discussed as an approach to second language instruction. Topics include the value of student-student communication, traditional patterns of classroom discourse, alternative discourse patterns, listening to peers, instructional strategies to enhance student-student interaction, instructional talk and classroom activities for the development of interactional competence, and authenticity and autonomy in classroom talk.

Functions of nonverbal communication in teaching and learning a foreign language
Article Abstract:
Nonverbal communication plays an important role in foreign language teaching and learning. Nonverbal communcation is relevant to language encoding and decoding, in defining communicative competence, in instructional models, teaching strategies and management of the classroom, and as part of culture. Research should be done to determine how nonverbal communication could facilitate foreign language learning, and nonverbals should be incorporated into teacher education.
