Grain marketing systems in China and India: a comparative perspective
Article Abstract:
Studies of grain marketing systems in China and India are incomprehensive and oversimplified. These economic systems are rarely compared because of the unavailability of reliable data from China; however, the Delhi-based China study group claims data can now be collected through field observation and checked from various sources. Grain marketing systems of India and China from the 1950s to 1990 are compared in relation to procurement, rationing, reerve stocks, regional movements, and private marketing channels.
