Humanitarian emergencies: ten steps to save lives and resources
Article Abstract:
The primary causes of humanitarian emergencies since the end of the Cold War are civil conflicts brought on by religious and ethnic differences and the political breakup of unstable countries. To control the impending disaster, caused by the overwhelming number of people displaced by these conflicts, the role of the UN and other international organizations should be to assure every person has the access to what he needs to survive and protection from violence perpetrated by others. The UN must work to control humanitarian disasters before they happen by finding diplomatic solutions to conflicts before they escalate.

A fair day's pay
Article Abstract:
Variable pay systems have become more common, with pay more closely related to performance, but the impact of this is not always clear. Some tasks are simple, and this means that performance can easily be measured, though other tasks are complex and may require team work. Motivation is linked to a range of factors, and pay is only one of those factors. Interesting work and recognition for good work are also important in motivating and retaining employees.
