La reforme du baccaulaureat en France
Article Abstract:
Young Frenchmen have felt more pressured to succeed in their baccalaureat studies in view of the economic crisis the country has gone through since 1980. More students succeeding with this degree come from the upper classes and from better secondary schools. Reforms of this degree have tried to make the baccaulaureat more democratic and to make it easier to change avenues of study once additional choices have been made. The goal is to make achieving success in life a function of aptitude and not other social factors. The text of the article is in French.

False friends or true? Semantic Anglicisms in France today
Article Abstract:
One example of the intrusion of English into French comes in the use of French words signifying meanings from the English. Examples would be using 'opportunite' instead of 'occasion' and using 'realiser' for to realize. These loan shifts are in French called 'anglicismes semantiques.' Contact with the English causes a semantic change in these French words. Examples are given and grouped by their level of acceptance.
