Marlitt's world: domestic fiction in an age of empire
Article Abstract:
The questions of emigration and empire that frequently appear in E. Marlitt's fiction are examined. The writing style of Marlitt in her novel German Heimat is analyzed and it is concluded that her works add nuance to the history of European imperialism by revealing gradual intrusion of global concerns into the provincial realm of German domestic fiction.
