How Do Market Researchers Ask Questions?
Article Abstract:
An investigation of how marketing researchers compose questionnaires was conducted. An assessment was made of the words employed in the questionnaires and of the questions. It was found that questionnaires are designed to accommodate any respondent originality. In attitude research, attitude and answers are provided to respondents. The words used in questionnaires are often ambiguous, uncommon or problematic. Error in measurement can result if there is no qualitative input, no pilot testing and no allowance for misunderstanding of vocabulary.
