The French Catholic Church's apology
Article Abstract:
The French Catholic Church issued an apology for its role during the Holocaust on Sept 30, 1997. Comparison with the apology from the Vatican on Mar 16, 1998, indicates that the French Catholic Church's statement is more thorough and comprehensive. Especially notable is the French Catholic Church's admission of institutional responsibility, whereas the Vatican focused on the acts of individual Christians.
