The first Fete de l'Internet was celebrated in France in 1998, as part of a national campaign to promote and democratize the medium. Topics discussed include French skepticism toward the Internet, the Internet as a national priority, the Fete d l'Internet as a democratic celebration, emblems of the French exception in cyberspace, virtual community and the information age.

Is Paris France?
