The country in the city: Central Park in Jonas Mekas's 'Walden' and William Greaves's 'Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One'
Article Abstract:
Central Park plays a key role in both Jonas Mekas' 'Walden' and, William Greaves' 'Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One'. In 'Walden', the images of the Central Park lakes provide a paradox against the solitude of Thoreau's 'Walden'. Similarly, in Greaves' 'Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One' Central Park is used as a social background. Both motion pictures use the location as one where individuals can escape the rigidity of working life.
