What to Do?
Article Abstract:
The author ponders what to do with genealogy information about a family black sheep. Should he share it with other family members if he believes it will upset them? He gives examples of an ancestor who was praised in a biography written at the time of his death but who turned out be be a deserter from the British Navy. Another example concerns someone believed by the family to be dead who served time in prison long after his supposed death.

John Wilkes MP One Time Lord Mayor of London Bridging the Genealogical Gap to the Brantford Wilkes
Article Abstract:
The author tries to trace the Wilkes family of Brantford, Ontario to John Wilkes (1725-1797), who was a Lord Mayor of London and Member of Parliament. The Canadian Wilkes family is descended from John Aston Wilkes (1782-1867) who immigrated around 1820 and is well documented. The link to England is tenuous.
