A dog day afternoon
Article Abstract:
John Guare, born in 1938, has written several successful plays including: 'House of Blue Leaves', 'Six Degrees of Separation' and an adaptation of 'Two Gentlemen of Verona.' 'Blue Leaves' is a satirical attack on American culture and 'Six Degrees of Separation', which is based on real life, led to a court case. David Hampton, the con-man on whom it is based, is suing Guare for stealing the commercial rights to his life and personality. Guare's latest drama 'Four Baboons Adoring the Sun,' a mixture of opera and myth, describes tragedy on an archaeological dig for a step-family with nine children. Peter Hall's production of the play was at the Lincoln Centre in Apr 1992.
