A young man in a hurry

Article Abstract:

Composer, conductor and pianist Thomas Ades finds it very difficult to plan a regular work routine. He dislikes mornings, and is unable to force himself to work. He trained as a percussionist, and often seeks to incorporate everyday sounds into his music. He hopes that his works will change the people who hear them, but does not wish to influence anybody else's work. He aims to open up new avenues, rather than close them.
