Article Abstract:

The success of the US economic model was a key theme at the 1998 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Many speakers claimed that the financial crisis in the Far East can be interpreted as the final triumph of Anglo-Saxon capitalism. However, it is possible to argue that the crisis in the Far East has highlighted the weaknesses of unregulated Western capitalism just as much as the disadvantages of the Asian economic model.
