South Africa learns to share Boer War suffering

Article Abstract:

Blacks and whites are uniting in South Africa to mark the centenary of the Anglo-Boer War. An exhibition at the War Museum of the Boer Republics in Bloemfontein, South Africa, recognizes that blacks fought on both sides in the war, with at least 14,000 dying in British concentration camps. However, it will take many years before black South Africans really feel that the Boer War belongs to their history.
