Article Abstract:

Edward Howard Insurance Services has linked with the Kiln group, Lloyds underwriters, to launch the Divorce Maintenance Insurance (DMI) scheme. This insurance package provides for up to two years' maintenance payments in the case of a former husband's sickness, accident or disability. There is a lump sum payment of twice the annual amount of maintenance in the event of the former husband's death. It is possible to receive up to 12 months' maintenance payments in the event of involuntary unemployment. There is also cover for up to 12,000 pounds sterling in legal costs and expenses relating to seeking enforcement of a maintenance order.

Norman McCann

Article Abstract:

Impresario and collector Norman McCann became an apprentice toolmaker at the age of 16. He joined the Army during the second world war, and became entertainments organizer on the basis of his singing abilities. He gained a scholarship to study with Rosina Buckman and Olive Groves at the Royal Academy of Music in 1948, and became an accomplished singer in both Italian and Welsh. After graduating, he began acting as agent and manager for his wife, Lucille Graham.

US: WIRELESS LICENCE AUCTION

Article Abstract:

The first day of the auction for licences to operate new wireless services in the US is understood to have raised some US$ 404.8mn. Some 905 bids were received on 12 December 2000 for some 422 licences that will cover 195 markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Seattle.
