Day one of battle for Tora Bora: ambush, retreat and ignominy

The battle for Tora Bora looks set to become one of the most challenging of the conflict in Afghanistan. Mujahedin fighters have already been killed in an ambush by Arab fighters of Osama bin Laden's al-Qa'ida network. It is believed that bin Laden himself is in the area.

Al-Qa'ida last stand ends in bloody rout
Article Abstract:
Large numbers of al-Qa'ida troops have been killed as the caves in which they were hiding in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan were captured by pro-Western mujahedin forces. The remaining al-Qa'ida troops have fled, but Osama bin Laden has still not been found.
