Article Abstract:

The three members of rap group Fun Lovin' Criminals admit to having been influenced by many different musical forms. They are very keen on hip hop, but also admire the music of their parents' generation. They have also been influenced by films, and their re-released single 'Scooby Snacks' contains pieces of dialogue from the film 'Reservoir Dogs.' They maintain a rather cynical attitude towards their work, and are determined not to lose their perspective on life.

Lullabies from wide open skies

Article Abstract:

Nebraskan country band Lullaby for the Working Class has created an unusual but very attractive sound from bringing together instruments that are not normally associated, such as ukeleles, glockenspiels and banjos. The band's lyrics are also very unusual. The songs are written in a very deliberate way, but are not intended to be self-absorbed. They bear very clear signs of the band's Nebraskan origins, and seem to evoke Nebraska's endless horizons.

There is still strong commitment in Texas to making rock'n'roll music. Texan bands' music is diverse, but there is a strong sense of the music being a matter of life and death. For many bands, the music is about defiance or despair.
