I'd rather be bored than go on a course

Article Abstract:

Holiday courses for children have become increasingly popular in the UK, particularly since it is now common for mothers to work. Parents view holiday courses as an ideal form of childcare, and also see them as a way of allowing their children to learn new skills. Some children quite enjoy attending holiday courses, but others would rather remain at home, even if they become bored at home. It is important to be aware that children need free time during the holidays, away from adult intervention.

It is important for schools to give all children the opportunity to find a sporting activity they enjoy, regardless of their abilities.
