An uprising among Taliban prisoners at the fort of Qalai Janghi near Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, has left hundreds of people dead. There have been mixed reports about the causes of the uprising, but it is possible that the prisoners overwhelmed their guards and took control of an armoury.
