Article Abstract:

The islands that make up the Seychelles differ considerably from each other in atmosphere and appearance. The granite islands, such as Mahe, the largest, are high and lush, while others are much flatter. There are strong colonial influences on Mahe, but other islands have a more mixed culture. Digue has some extremely attractive beaches, while Praslin has an ancient forest which is now a World Heritage site.

Now I have faith in literary prizes

Article Abstract:

Experiences of being on the jury for the 2001 Booker prize are presented. Judges must read around 120 novels in a very short time, and inevitably face criticism when the shortlist is announced. It is argued that literary prizes can sometimes be very positive.

Soon we won't need real film actors

Article Abstract:

The shift towards the use of computer animated characters in films, rather than real actors, is discussed. It is argued that this trend indicates a regrettable desire for ultimate perfection.
