Actress and playwright Loleh Bellon studied acting with the famous actors/producers/teachers Tania Balachova and Charles Dullin. She gained the Best Young Actress Prize in 1949 for her role in Surrealist poet Robert Desnos's 'Place de l'Etoile.' She subsequently appeared in a very wide range of roles. She started to write plays in the 1970s, and her first play, 'Les Dames de Jeudi,' ran for two years in Paris, France, before going on tour. She was strongly attracted to the UK, and dreamed of acting in English.

Queen consort and actress Soraya Esfandiari Bakhtiari was born in Isfahan, Iran, in 1932. She became the second wife of the late Shah of Iran at the age of 19, but was later divorced by him because of her inability to provide him with an heir.
