Made to feel like trespassers on European soil

Article Abstract:

Middle-class Muslims who are integrated in the UK are anguished about the lack of action over the Bosnian tragedy by the West. They believe the international response to the situation is aggressive collusion intended to destroy Muslims. The West appears to be reviving the old hatred of Muslims in Europe. Muslims are apprehensive and fear being forced out of Europe. The Salman Rushdie affair forced many to consider their opinion. Muslims are developing self-help groups and organising themselves politically.

Article Abstract:

Egyptian novelist Ahdaf Soueif feels anxious that she does not return to Egypt more often. She longs for Egypt, but feels that she no longer belongs to it. She wants her two sons to feel comfortable in the UK, but also wishes them to be aware of the truth about Egypt and to value their Egyptian heritage. She believes that her writing functions as a tool against misrepresentations of Egypt in the Western world.

Why I feel insulted as I watch this election campaign unfold

Article Abstract:
