Fine art dealer Michael Gillingham developed an interest in music, antiques and churches as a schoolboy at Yeovil School. He went up to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, England, at the age of 17 to read History and then Law. He was held back from progressing in careers in law and banking by his Brethren background, and eventually began working for art dealers Spinks in London, England. He was a director of John Sparks from 1976 to 1991.

US attitudes towards John Walker, the Californian who became a Taliban fighter, expose the shallow multiculturalism of the US and its uncertain approach towards treason. Many in the US are trying to find excuses for Walker, calling him a 'misled' young man trying to follow his own 'journey'.
