US troops 'cross border' to hunt Albanian rebels

US soldiers from the international force in Kosovo (K-For) have entered the village of Tanusevci, on the border between Kosovo and Macedonia. This village had been occupied by Albanian rebels seeking independence from Macedonia. K-For denies that the troops crossed the border into Macedonia.

US troops acting as part of the international force in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, have shot and wounded two men thought to be part of the National Liberation Army, an Albanian rebel army that took control of the village of Tanusevci, Macedonia.

The rebel National Liberation Army (NLA), made up of ethnic Albanians, has come under fire from government troops in Tetovo, Macedonia. The NLA claims that it is seeking to improve the rights of Albanians in Macedonia, while its opponents see it as seeking to break up Macedonia.
