Understanding the importance of discipline is vital if a musician is to gain the freedom to interpret and improvise, according to violinist Nigel Kennedy. He is the most talented violinist of his generation, but his attitudes have sometimes attracted considerable criticism. He has always been very keen on live performance, and has managed to appeal to many ordinary people with music not traditionally associated with the violin.

Broadway appears to be undergoing a revival, with a good balance between quality old productions and new shows. Efforts are clearly being made to nurture new talent. The best shows currently running include 'The Full Monty' and 'The Producers.'
