Hail the Royal House of Geldof

Article Abstract:

The media coverage of rumours that the marriage of Paula Yates and pop singer Bob Geldof is collapsing is very similar to the coverage of the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Paula Yates and Bob Geldof seem to have become the Prince Charles and Princess Diana of popular culture, but Bob Geldof has often emphasised that he is not worthy of the quasi-royal status which he has achieved. He shows great disdain for public opinion and for protocol, and treats reporters with sarcasm.

A mosque in Mayfair? That's rich

Article Abstract:

The Qatari government has recently obtained permission to convert two floors of the building which once housed the Maisonette, the most notorious drinking club in Mayfair, London, into a mosque. Some residents of the Shepherd Market area of Mayfair, where the building is located, welcome the move. However, others feel that siting a mosque there would lead to a rise in noise and pollution and that this should be kept as a residential area.
