One man's meat

Article Abstract:

Household expenditure on beef in the UK has now almost fully returned to its pre-BSE levels. However, there is considerable uncertainty about the future of the country's small abattoirs, many of which are being very negatively affected by the heavy burden of regulations imposed by the European Commission. The closure of large numbers of small abattoirs would lead to the loss of many jobs in rural areas, as well as cutting off the source of the best meat available in the UK. The European Commission has lifted the ban on UK beef, but exporting beef means dealing with a great deal of bureaucracy.

The mystery of Rudolf Hess

Article Abstract:

There is strong evidence that the man who landed in a German plane near Glasgow, Scotland, in 1941 was not Rudolf Hess. It appears that the UK government was aware of this and covered up the truth.
