Some of the survivors of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, NY, have been relating their experiences. Those who left their offices, ignoring calls to remain there, found that the atmosphere on the emergency staircases was relatively calm.

Article Abstract:

European justice ministers met recently in Tampere, Finland, for what many observers feel could be the first stage in the creation of a single European legal system. Human rights lawyers are expressing concerns about this process, claiming that the criminal justice systems of some European Union countries lack the checks and balances needed to protect people from miscarriages of justice. Many lawyers feel that it would not be possible in practice to operate a single European legal system.
