Professor Jacques Droz
Article Abstract:
Historian Jacques Droz began his research into the Rhine area in 1934. He pursued his research and maintained his links with Germany when teaching history in the lycee in Colmar, France. He was appointed to the Institute of Political Studies in Strasbourg, France, in 1944, and in 1947 became Professor of History at the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France. He continued to give lectures at the Sorbonne, and he returned there as a full-time professor in 1962.

Admiral Jacques Guillon
Article Abstract:
Naval officer Jacques Guillon studied at France's Ecole Navale. He served in the French navy during the second world war, and joined the Free French forces of General Leclerc in the desert. He gained the rank of captain, and was attached to the tanks and motorized unit of Leclerc's forces. He served in Indo-China from 1950, and in 1965 was put in charge of the sites in the Pacific which the French government intended to use for nuclear experiments.

Professor Rene Girault
Article Abstract:
Professor Rene Girault was a French historian who studied atthe University of Paris in the 1950s under Pierre Renouvin, and was a collaborator of Fernand Braudel. Girault emphasized the importance of culture in understanding the attitudes of England's rulers to Hitler, whom they saw an an anti-communist. He was also involved in a debate on how French should be taught in schools, and saw a need to study the origins and growth of nationalities.
