Revel with a cause

Article Abstract:

There are still areas in which Channel 4 must improve, especially as it faces stronger competition from BBC2, according to Stuart Cosgrove, Channel 4's new controller of arts and entertainment. He is preparing to eliminate some areas of programming which have given Channel 4 a negative image, and is looking at many proposals for new show formats. He sees his main task as ensuring that commissioning editors know what to look for.

Blonde ambition

Article Abstract:

There are now a number of women who have become extremely successful in presenting light entertainment television programmes in the UK. They appeal to the general public, are at ease with guests, and present an image of happiness and sympathy.

Sore throat, sore head, sore soul

Article Abstract:

Liam Gallagher, lead singer of pop group Oasis, appears to be coming increasingly into conflict with the other members of the group. Most recently, he refused at the very last minute to take part in a three-week tour in the US. He seems to be unable to control his temper and his moods, and is now in danger of becoming completely out of control. Some observers feel that there are now serious doubts about his future.
