Robinson anger at 'punishment of the innocent.'
Article Abstract:
Former UK Paymaster General Geoffrey Robinson is said to have reacted very negatively to the fact that Peter Mandelson, to whom he lent 373,000 pounds sterling, has returned to the Cabinet only 10 months after they both resigned over this scandal. In contrast, Robinson remains in the political wilderness. He is to publish a book, 'The Unconventional Minister,' in early 2000. Friends believe that he has sufficient knowledge of the activities of those closest to Prime Minister Tony Blair to cause embarrassment to Blair, senior members of his staff and Peter Mandelson, if he decides to do so.

Ministers unite in delight at the downfall of a very uncivil servant
Article Abstract:
UK government ministers have generally welcomed the fact that Charlie Whelan has decided to resign as press secretary to Chancellor Gordon Brown following allegations that he leaked details of a personal loan from former Paymaster General Geoffrey Robinson to former Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Mandelson. Most government ministers have been caused considerable embarrassment by Whelan at some time. Whelan himself insists that he has not been forced out, but feels that he had to resign because he was attracting excessive attention.
