Rubble-rousing stuff
Article Abstract:
The bombing of the city of Dresden, Germany, in Feb 1945 left at least 35,000 people dead and reduced the city to rubble. The destruction of the city has always been viewed with great controversy, as it had unique architectural qualities and was bombed when the war was almost at an end. The Frauenkirche, one of the landmarks of the old city, has remained a ruin for the last 50 years, being left to serve as a reminder of the horrors of war. However, it is now to be rebuilt at a cost of at least 100 million pounds sterling.
