Shading out the threat of melanoma

Article Abstract:

Skin cancer attacks over 40,000 people a year in the UK and kills 2,000, a lot of whom have never left the country. Skin cancer is usually a result of sunlight, and can be avoided. If diagnosed in time it can be totally cured. Squamos cell and basal cell carcinomas can both be treated simply, but malignant melanoma is more difficult to treat, especially when it is more advanced. The latter hits people at a younger age than the other two types, and affects no less than 4,000 people annually in the UK, particularly those who are only out in the sun at weekends and on holiday.

Boldly going where banks dare not go: factoring companies step in where traditional lenders are wary of providing finance

Article Abstract:

The Association of British Factors and Discounters (ABFD) members can help companies growth as the recession starts to fade, because they lend against current invoices rather than historic balance sheet information, as the clearing banks do. The factoring industry indicates the state of the economy. Banks do not provide cashflow support so companies can get into an overtrading situation while factoring companies increase loans as sales rise.

Green shoots face credit frost

Article Abstract:

When recessions start to improve, there is limited working capital for funding recovery, so small firms often go bankrupt. The Forum of Private Business seeks participative risk assessment and information exchange between banks and businesses. Businesses need additional working capital to expand sales. Banks base decisions on historic figures and asset backing, discounting the improvement in the economy.
