Space - the final frontier

Article Abstract:

Theatre direction can be seen as a freak invention of the 20th century, according to theatre director Peter Brook. He feels that it would therefore be appropriate to stage an English-speaking reworking of 'Qui est la,' which brings together moments from 'Hamlet' and insights into the nature of theatre acting and direction, as a project for 2000. He believes that truth in the theatre is always changing, and that for this reason his 1968 book 'The Empty Space' may now be out of date, even though it is still highly respected as an analysis of the problems facing contemporary theatre.
