The movie 'Beat' is a project starring Courtney Love, who plays the role of the wife of an author, William Burroughs. The movie details a fictitious affair that key beat figure, Lucien Carr, supposedly had with Burrough's wife, and Carr is still alive and objects to this portrayal of his life. Carr introduced Allen Ginsberg, the poet, and authors Jack Kerouac and Burroughs to each other. Love was married to Kurt Cobain, a deceased musician who was a friend of Burroughs.

Actor Christian Bale has been preparing himself for some time to play the lead role in 'American Psycho,' a film being produced by small film production company Lion Gate. This company sent the script of the film to Leonardo DiCaprio, who expressed interest in it, and this has placed Bale's role in the project in doubt. However, Bale is determined that DiCaprio will not take a role he regards as his, and is taking legal advice on the matter.
