Parties outraged as TV stations move political broadcasts

Article Abstract:

Party political broadcasts are no longer transmitted simultaneously. Many viewers leave the room or switch off while they are on, and video recorders allow another alternative. ITV will transmit the 1992 broadcasts at 6.55 pm, Channel 4 after midnight, BBC 1 after the News at 9.50 or 9.55 pm, and BBC 2 at 10.30 pm. Public opinion on impartiality is revealed by ITC research. Sixty-seven per cent obtain most of their UK news from television.
